Hip Hop dance is primarily danced to hip-hop music. It encompasses a wide range of styles including tutting, crumping, locking and popping which were developed in the 1970s, parallel with the evolution of hip-hop music. Hip-hop dancing evolved from breaking and the funk styles into the popular kid friendly street style taught at Plié today.

Hip Hop evolved in New York City. Free, funky and soulful expression of movement that is constantly evolving and used by artists such as Chris Brown, Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce & Rihanna.

Pliè is particularly well known for our amazing hip hop. Our teams have won over 20 National titles in hip hop, and were recently runners-up in the AASCF National Dance Titles for Grand National Champions. We have won countless eisteddfods & competitions & have THE coolest hip hop teacher in town leading our hip hop department- Erin Usini.
